This Privacy Policy explains how the Bolton Islamic Center mobile application ("the App", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information you provide directly

If you choose to create an account (for example, to make donations or track payments), we may collect:

• Full name
• Username and password
• Email address
• Phone number
• City
• Profile picture (optional)

b) Payment information

If you make a donation or payment through the App (e.g. towards Zakat or community contributions), payment is not completed inside the App. When you choose to donate, the App opens a secure payment page in your device's web browser (for example, Safari on iOS ). This approach ensures that card and payment details are entered on our secure website, not within the App interface.

The App does not store your full card number, CVV, or expiry date on our servers. We do not provide an in-app card entry form for donations on iOS. Any payment details you enter are submitted directly on the secure web page opened in your browser and are handled by our payment processor. We retain a record of payment amounts, dates, and your outstanding/paid totals so we can show you your contribution history within the App.

c) Location information

The App uses your device's location to calculate the direction of the Qibla (the direction of prayer) using your device's compass and GPS. Location is used only on your device to perform this calculation and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

d) Contact form submissions

If you use the "Contact Us" feature within the App, we collect your first name, last name, email address, and the message you submit, in order to respond to your inquiry.

e) Information collected automatically

The App stores certain preferences locally on your device (such as app theme, login session, and saved Qaseeda/bookmarks) using local device storage. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless explicitly described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To process donations and payments and show your contribution/payment history
• To calculate prayer times and Qibla direction relevant to your location
• To provide community services such as marriage services, Islamic advice requests, mosque visit bookings, youth club information, and community outreach features
• To send you updates about Bolton Islamic Center news, events, and services
• To respond to inquiries you submit through the App
• To improve and maintain the App

3. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Payment processing: When you donate, you are redirected to our secure website in your browser. Payment details are shared directly with our payment processor solely to process your transaction. The App itself does not receive or store your full card details.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
• Service providers: With trusted third parties who assist us in operating the App, strictly under confidentiality obligations.

We do not use third-party advertising or analytics tracking software within this App.

4. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. Account credentials and session data may be stored locally on your device to keep you signed in. While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• You may update or correct your profile information within the App at any time.
• You may disable location permissions at any time through your device settings; this will only affect the Qibla direction feature.
• You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us using the details below.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Religious and Community Content

Features such as the Qur'an, Hadith search, Du'as, Asma-ul-Husna, Digital Tasbih, and Qaseeda are provided for devotional and educational purposes. No personal data is required to use these features unless you choose to bookmark content tied to your account.

8. Third-Party Services

These third parties have their own privacy policies governing the use of your information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
